🎙 RECORDING

Arm a track (red ● on track row), then tap big red REC button on transport. Use headphones for clean recording.

⏱ CAL — LATENCY CALIBRATION

Recordings can land slightly late versus the beat. To fix: turn the metronome on, record a few beats (tap on each click, or clap), then tap the CAL button. It measures how far your recorded beat landed from the metronome line and shifts future recordings to lock to the beat. The current value shows right on the button (e.g. CAL 75). Record again and tap CAL once more if it still drifts — each pass gets closer. A rough default is set automatically from your device the first time audio starts.

🪕 TANPURA DRONE

Pick tonic (C, C#, D...) from 🪕 dropdown. Patterns: P-S-S-S (Pancham, default), M-S-S-S (Madhyam), N-S-S-S (Nishad), S-S-S-S. Plays continuously with overlapping plucks for seamless singer support — keeps going even with the screen off. Select OFF to stop.

🥁 METRONOME & TEMPO

Set BPM directly or tap TAP 4 times in beat. Tap 🥁 to toggle the click — works live, even during playback. Long-press 🥁 to cycle count-in bars (0→1→2). Time signatures: 4/4, 3/4, 6/8, 7/8, 5/4.

📐 BEAT GRID & SNAP

Timeline shows bar numbers + beat lines based on BPM/SIG. Tap SNAP to enable snap-to-beat — clips snap to nearest beat. Default OFF.

🔁 A-B LOOP & 📍 MARKERS

A-B: Set A at playhead, move to B, tap again — plays loop A→B. Tap once more to clear.

📍: Drop labeled marker at playhead (Verse, Chorus, etc.).

🎚 PER-TRACK CONTROLS

Each track has: VOL (volume), PAN (stereo), PITCH (shifts the whole track ±12 semitones, tempo kept — high-quality engine), ⚙ FX (EQ, Compressor, Reverb, Delay, Chorus, Distortion).

✂ CLIP EDITING

When a clip loads, its key & tempo are detected automatically and shown under the waveform. Tap to select. Toolbar: SPLIT (at playhead), DEL. Long-press a clip for menu: Key & Tempo (change pitch ±12 or tempo for that clip only — changing tempo lengthens/shortens the clip), Fade In, Fade Out, Normalize, Reverse, Trim Silence, Delete.

🎯 PUNCH IN/OUT

PUNCH button (toolbar) — set in/out points to re-record specific sections without overwriting full clip.

🎤 HEADPHONE MONITOR (👂)

Tap 👂 to hear live mic input through headphones during recording.

🎛 HEADER MIX CONTROLS

LIM: Master Limiter quick toggle (prevents output clipping). MX: Mute all tracks. SX: Clear all solos. CAL: Latency calibration — tap after recording the metronome to lock recordings to the beat (value shows on the button). MAS: Master panel — output volume plus Limiter on/off and ceiling (dB).

↔ AUTO-SCROLL & ↻ LOOP

↔ — Timeline follows playhead. ↻ — Loop entire timeline.

💾 SAVE & OPEN PROJECT

Tap the save icon to save your whole session — tracks, settings, FX, and all recordings — into one .njst project file (you choose where to save it on your phone/laptop). The app starts fresh each time you open it; to continue a session, tap the open icon and pick your saved .njst file — everything comes back, audio included. Fully offline, no internet needed.

📤 EXPORT

Download icon → 3 options: Stereo Mix WAV (full stereo, lossless), Mono Mix WAV (single channel, smaller), Stems WAV (each track separate file).

🔍 ZOOM & NAVIGATION

ZOOM−/+ toolbar buttons, or pinch with 2 fingers on tracks. Tap timeline to move playhead.

🔋 SCREEN WAKE LOCK

Screen automatically stays on during recording and playback (no need to manually keep tapping). Released when stopped — saves battery.

⟲ LOOP RECORDING (Take Folders)

Tap ⟲ button on the transport bar before recording. Each new take stacks at the same position — previous takes get muted automatically. Tap any muted (faded) take to make it the active one (take comping).

🎚 TRACK ROW BUTTONS

Each track row has: ● (arm for recording), MUTE (silence this track), SOLO (only play this track), ⊕ LOAD (import audio file). Below: VOL, PAN, PITCH, ⚙ FX popovers.

➕ ADD / REMOVE TRACKS

Tap the − button in a track header to remove it. New tracks are added automatically when you record or load audio if needed.

🎨 TRACK COLORS

Each track has a unique color marker for visual identification of clips, useful when arranging multiple recordings.

📋 CLIP SELECTION & DRAG

Tap any clip to select it (highlighted border). Drag the clip to move it on the timeline. Drag the edge handles to resize. Use SPLIT to cut at playhead, DEL to delete.
